Samuel is an immortal cursed to live with heartbreak, with deeply human emotions and faded memories. He tries to help a woman with a heart as vulnerable and broken as his own, but he only helps to shatter it completely. If it's the last thing Helen does, she will end him. She will pick up the broken shards of her heart and cut him. There are many ways to die in 1880, and Helen is willing to try everything once. Since Samuel can't seem to die, he might indulge her rage, for repentance of what he did to her. It turns out, he may enjoy repenting far too much.​
